Sometimes I crave something a little sweet and I scour the cupboards only to find corn crackers and savoury nuts and savoury flaxseed crackers and savoury pupas and savoury nut burgers… a handful of dates or goji berries are just not satisfying the sweet craving….
So I decided to make some sweet flaxseed crackers. Here is what I did!
Ingredients:
2 cups flaxseeds (linseeds)
4 cups filtered water
3 Tbsp. raw honey
2 Tsp. cinnamon
Method:
Soak the flaxseeds in the water overnight.
In a food processor, blend together the soaked flaxseeds (don’t rinse), the honey and the cinnamon until the mixture is smooth and some of the flaxseeds are ground down.
Place 2 cup full scoops of mixture onto a lined dehydrator tray and spread the mixture 1/3 cm thick across the tray. Repeat for 2 more trays.
Place into a dehydrator overnight at 115 degrees Fahrenheit. In the morning, flip the crackers onto a mesh dehydrator tray and peel off the teflex liner. Replace in the dehydrator until the crackers are well dried and crispy. Probably another 6- 8 hours.
Break into pieces and serve with nut butter and honey – or just munch on them as they are.
Enjoy!
